New data highlights nationwide surge in organizing and participation
WASHINGTON, April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- NGP VAN, the leading technology provider for Democratic and progressive campaigns, today released new data and insights from its volunteer recruitment and event management platform, Mobilize, highlighting the scale and impact of organizing efforts surrounding No Kings Day on March 28.
Mobilize combines scale, network effects, and distributed organizing in a way no standalone event tool can. With a network of more than 11 million supporters and over 50 million actions taken, Mobilize isn't just an event tool; it's the infrastructure behind modern, distributed movements. On No Kings Day this past weekend alone, organizers used Mobilize to power more than 3,300 events, many led by volunteer hosts, and generated over 870,000 sign-ups  — demonstrating the platform's unique ability to unlock grassroots leadership at scale.
Approximately 8 million people attended protests nationwide, with more than 90 percent of events organized on Mobilize, reinforcing its role as the leading organizing destination for the Democratic and progressive movement. From small gatherings in rural communities to mass demonstrations in major cities, No Kings Day on March 28 demonstrated both the expanding geographic reach and growing intensity of civic participation nationwide.
Since the first event in June 2025, Mobilize has driven over 2.75 million signups for No Kings Day events
"When the movement shows up in force, we make sure the platform does too," said Dan Kissam, Director of Engineering of Mobilize.
Ahead of March 28, Mobilize proactively scaled its infrastructure and aligned engineering resources to support a significant surge in traffic. On the day of action, teams monitored performance in real time, tracking site responsiveness, registration processing, and overall system load to ensure a seamless experience for organizers and participants.
"This is part of our proven high-volume events playbook, built specifically for high-stakes, high-traffic moments," Kissam added. "We're thrilled to see the momentum surrounding the largest day of protest in American History and are honored to play a role in supporting it."
The continued growth of No Kings Day reflects a broader shift across the Democratic and progressive ecosystem: sustained civic engagement powered by accessible, shared technology. The recent data from Mobilize reflects:
- Continued growth of distributed and volunteer-hosted events
- Strong, sustained volunteer retention, with participants returning for future actions
- Expanded geographic reach, with increased activity across major cities, suburban communities, and small towns across the countryÂ
Together, these trends underscore how NGP VAN is evolving its technology to meet the needs of modern organizing, enabling movements to scale faster, reach further, and sustain engagement over time.
NGP VAN remains committed to equipping organizers with the tools they need to meet the moment and turn surges of participation into long-term engagement.
