Reactivate Partners with Tribal Energy Alternative to Support Workforce Training for Tribal Members in 5 States

PR Newswire

CHICAGO, May 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Reactivate is proud to announce a new partnership with Tribal Energy Alternatives (TEA) to support clean energy workforce training for members in Tribal Nations. Funded through Reactivate's Renewable Energy Equity Foundation (REEF), this partnership will train up to 50 Tribal members through a solar curriculum, providing hands-on installation experience, industry certifications, and the buildout of a dedicated solar lab to meet the rising demand for a reliable, locally supported power grid.

With an aging energy grid and the need for more electricity supply due to increased demands, the industry faces a critical shortage of trained workers. The partnership focuses on the Tribal Workforce Development project led by TEA. Through grant funding from REEF, the program will facilitate renewable energy training across 5 states including Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Washington—as well as the buildout of a dedicated solar lab.

"Recognizing the vital role developers play in the clean energy workforce, Reactivate is excited to partner with TEA and tribal communities to support a program that produces tangible outcomes and supports Tribal members," said Utopia Hill, CEO of Reactivate.

Program Highlights & Impact

This initiative is designed to move beyond traditional classroom instruction by providing holistic support for participants:

  • Comprehensive Curriculum: The program aims to graduate up to 50 trainees.

  • Certifications: Trainees will receive hands-on solar installation experience, along with OSHA 10 and CPR certifications.

  • Financial & Career Support: To ensure long-term career success, the funding supports trainee stipends, resume building, and job placement assistance.

  • Technical Infrastructure: Funding will directly support the development of a solar lab for ongoing technical education.

"The REEF Reactivate partnership is about more than funding, it's about unlocking opportunity," said Tanksi Clairmont, Co-Executive Director of TEA. "By investing in the place-based tribal workforce and training model at TEA, we're supporting tribal communities across five states with the skills, resources, and pathways needed to lead in the clean energy economy for years to come."
