Proposed 260-Residence Campus Would Extend Rockwood's Mission Across the Inland Northwest

SPOKANE, Wash., Sept. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Rockwood Retirement Communities has announced that it is actively engaged in planning for a new senior living campus in Liberty Lake, Washington. If completed, the proposed community would become Rockwood's third Life Plan campus, joining Rockwood South Hill and Rockwood at Whitworth, and extending the organization's mission-driven approach to vibrant lifestyle offerings for senior living to eastern Spokane County.

The proposed campus is planned within the River District development in Liberty Lake, near the established Trutina at River District community. The project represents a long-term opportunity for Rockwood to expand its presence in a growing area of Spokane County while complementing the thoughtful development and vision Greenstone and the Frank family have brought to the River District. Rockwood is currently completing due diligence, business planning and preliminary design activities. Construction is not anticipated to begin until late 2028, with first occupancy targeted for 2030.

With a projected development cost exceeding $275 million, the Liberty Lake campus would represent a substantial investment in the region and is expected to create more than 100 full-time jobs when operational. The project would also expand access to senior living and supportive services for older adults in Liberty Lake and surrounding communities.

Preliminary plans call for approximately 200 independent living residences, 36 assisted living apartments and 24 memory care residences. Planned amenities include multiple dining venues, fitness and wellness spaces, outdoor areas and gathering spaces designed to support an active, connected lifestyle with opportunities for lifelong learning and healthy living.

The community is home to more than 25 miles of multi-use trails, three golf courses and public access to the Spokane River, with nearby Liberty Lake Regional Park providing additional outdoor recreation. With convenient access to Spokane and Coeur d'Alene, residents will also benefit from a broad range of dining, entertainment and recreational opportunities that support an active, engaged lifestyle.

Rockwood is working with Greystone, a senior living consulting firm, to provide strategic advisory and development consulting services as planning for the Liberty Lake campus progresses.

As planning progresses, Rockwood expects to engage with prospective residents, community stakeholders, local leaders, existing Rockwood residents and others interested in the project.
